What concentration should I use in my food processing chiller?
Most food processing chillers run 30–40% PG concentration. For brewery fermentation chillers targeting 25–27°F setpoints, 35–40% PG is standard. Use our dilution calculator for your target temperature.
Can I use industrial-grade PG in my food plant?
No. If there is any possibility of incidental food contact — even through a heat exchanger leak — you need NSF HT1 certified product at minimum.
How often should I replace the glycol?
Every 2–3 years, or sooner if testing shows pH below 7.5 or depleted inhibitor levels. Test annually with a refractometer.
What water should I use for dilution?
DI (deionized) water only. Never use tap water (minerals degrade inhibitors) or RO water (too corrosive for system metals).
